  • Kiitos Heli!

OMG!  Can you STAND it?  It has not even been a week since I posted about wanting a book of hymns from Finland, and Heli offered me her real, like check the postmarks, hymnal.  AND IT'S HERE!  She told me the sweet history of her church and I've even seen pictures of it.  HCIT?

How cute, and clever is that message?  Heli, I AM THRILLED!  What a most generous offering.  Kiitos!

Did you spy the deer in the cool postcard she enclosed?  It's a very special sign.  *wink*

The one I got off ebay isn't even here yet.  BUT THE ONE FROM FINLAND IS HERE!!!  THAT is going to be THE HIM-nal.  *faints*

I'm pretty much a retail dunce as I found out when blog-reader Susan pointed out something she thought I needed.  Brighton?  Never heard of them (even though there was a shop in my mall!)  *smacks head*  So when Judi and I did our annual xmas-for-valentines exchange, she gifted me these.  She gets me.

    Yep, HCIT!

EDITED:  did you read the comments from the last post?  Finnish hymnals are on the way.  Yes, plural.  HCIT times infinity.

Huh?  Exactly.  Have you ever tried learning Finnish?  The only recognizable word for most of us is sauna.  Kirjakauppa is Bookstore.  If I was in Finland I would ask the hotel guy where to find a bookstore, or even better, a used bookstore.  (I already know where the concert venue is so I wouldn't have to ask about that.)  I'm on a quest to find a hymnal in Finnish.  I think it will be really clever to turn it into my HIM journal.  Recently some friends were in Finland and they visited a beautiful church – a hymnal was probably within reach…..I wonder what bad karma you would get if you stole one?

Laura alerted me to the Finnish bible on ebay, and that's when I found the English hymnal, which I will alter and settle with unless a Finnish one surfaces in the next few weeks.  When I was with Judi last weekend I scored the dictionary – it has tabbed letters, really cool.  Speaking of old books – I wrote a little story about books for Lisa, found on her second blog: Gypsy Bonfire

Speaking of second blogs, I've posted a new crusade on my Street Team.  Congrats to Hanna Andersson for being the Top Hat Pick for No. 28.

And back to my visit with Judi….had a blast!  We tried really hard to get a good myspace-type photo of ourselves and giggled 'til it hurt when we broke her glasses.   I've sworn to delete most of the photos, (incriminating evidence – too much valkoviini*) here's what is left:

  • meant for me

So I was tooling around through the Paperchase section of Borders and I found these cool paperclips.  They came in RED!!!  Got three packs.  Google for Iconoclasps to find some.  HERE is their listing on Fred & friends – always a fun place to browse.

Here's another cool thing.  I keep a stash of tags and was rifling through them the other night when it occured to me that the beautiful heart wings (from PSX) could be used on the goth girl (from Stampotique).  How cool is she now?  Ah, simple stamping….still makes me so happy.

I'm off to a slumber party with Judi!!  Have a great weekend.

Finished up a few pages – loving my new carved thorns.  Making tools and using them.  Very fulfilling. Yes, I keep re-visiting this quote.  It's a fave.  Yes, I keep re-using the same colors.  They are faves.  After mentioning that I wear my palette I realize I live in my palette too.  Yep – even have red walls, sage and mustard too.  No, I don't have black walls….just black furniture 🙂

    MWboots4

Made an evidence page of my find – even took a rubbing of the sole.  Thanks for all your comments about my boots!  I've been wearing them every day.  I haven't worn suede boots in years – loved those slouchy pixies from my DD* days and wish I still had them as Fallon is dressing in 80s fashion this week at school.  Tomorrow is the Frankie Says Relax shirt.  (It's a repro from Target….my signed-by-the-band original T is retired from wear.)  *duranduran

Evidence of a Lucky Girl:  This perfect cup arrived from Carin – she gets me ;)  And Theresa gave me the heads up on the scrabble thing – Xs & Os glued into place, which I scooped up from ETSY:  RememberMeEmily.  And how about that cute card from Sam?  Priceless.

One week to go on the current Crusade.  After Shaping Up, we are now practicing Portion Control.   What I am talking about?  Come see!  Lots of crusaders have already shared their interpretations – so fun to learn from one another as we all try something at the same time.  Congrats to Cath Sheard for being the most recent Top Hat Pick.

  • happy feet

So yesterday I was in this shoe store that is going out of business and I spy these snazzy green boots that were priced at $32.  Walked right by.  Last night I couldn't stop thinking about them.  They were such an awesome color.  I thought, hmmm, they are suede….why would I buy suede boots….they would only get wrecked in the snow which is the only time I would wear them.  EXCEPT maybe every day in the studio because it gets a little brisk in here in the winter.  This morning – went staight to the store, tried them on, and they were so warm and cozy!  I uttered out loud that I wish they came in red, but that the green was pretty cool too.  She rung me up.  $12.80.  Hello?  Ran back for a second pair.  I'm like that….buy two of everything.  Just in case.

    MWboots1

So I am so psyched with my score, and it just begins to snow, so I put on my boots.  Here I am walking around with a long black coat, black scarf, red gloves, and green boots.  I am practically skipping with glee even though I must look like, well….didn't matter.  Then it occurs to me – I'm wearing my palette!

There was a sale on sweaters….guess what color I got?  Good thing I was wearing my boots, got a perfect match!
