So yesterday I was in this shoe store that is going out of business and I spy these snazzy green boots that were priced at $32.  Walked right by.  Last night I couldn't stop thinking about them.  They were such an awesome color.  I thought, hmmm, they are suede….why would I buy suede boots….they would only get wrecked in the snow which is the only time I would wear them.  EXCEPT maybe every day in the studio because it gets a little brisk in here in the winter.  This morning – went staight to the store, tried them on, and they were so warm and cozy!  I uttered out loud that I wish they came in red, but that the green was pretty cool too.  She rung me up.  $12.80.  Hello?  Ran back for a second pair.  I'm like that….buy two of everything.  Just in case.

So I am so psyched with my score, and it just begins to snow, so I put on my boots.  Here I am walking around with a long black coat, black scarf, red gloves, and green boots.  I am practically skipping with glee even though I must look like, well….didn't matter.  Then it occurs to me – I'm wearing my palette!

There was a sale on sweaters….guess what color I got?  Good thing I was wearing my boots, got a perfect match!

Whew!  Got a few things moved from to-do to ta-da.  I've been wanting to carve an elaborate X and O so I started with a sketch.  Since I like to make coordinating images I just kept drawing.  Then I lifted each portion of the composition by tracing over it – I have a trick to insure the best symmetry – I draw an x/y axis on the trace, then copy only one quadrant of the image.  Next, I fold on an axis and trace the tracing.  It doesn't matter that you are drawing on the back since you can see through it.  Repeat across other axis and you should have a pretty symmetrical design.

Here are the test prints…tomorrow I'll get out the paint!

Since I had these photos of my sketch I decided to open in photoshop and erase bits out of it to make custom brushes and mess around with how these will look with color.  Squeee!

Last weekend I finally finished and mailed the Pink Wink thank yous.  It feels so good to move that task over to the ta-da list.  And as I said before, it was great therapy to revisit the project and bask a while longer in the pink glow.

And one more ta-da from this week - our NJ/NY HIM Street Team gathering for HD!

I know, you probably already had it on your calendar, but just in case you forgot, Heartagram Day is the first Saturday in February.  Last year we were treated to a full-theater-screen preview of the dvd.  *swooooned*.  This year we will meet up with our Street Team friends, following a LIVE interview broadcast.  *squeeeeeeeee*  What are your HD plans?

    I just noticed that O is the fifteenth letter of the alphabet, and X is the twenty-fourth.  Are you getting what I'm getting?  1 + 5 = 6 and 2 + 4 = 6.  HCIT?

Tuesday night I took Fallon to a local record store so she could see Leathermouth.  They performed, and then signed cds for the fans.  (Fallon's favorite band is MCR so she had to go meet Frank!)  Can you imagine my face when I saw the title of the album – XO?!!!  I flipped it over and pointed out to the band that XO became OX, and of course they recognized it for the Year of the Ox.  Aren't I such a goon?

I wouldn't have known about the event if it wasn't for my friend Leci who kept us in the loop.  We had a fun night with her and Jess, and guess what she brought me?  A t-shirt from Finland!  Yes, I was a jealous wreck that she and three other friends got to see HIM in FINLAND on New Year's Eve, but I got a t-shirt!!!  Not just any t-shirt, it's a badge of honor for any HIM fan that goes to Finland.  I won't tell you what it says because if you don't know then you don't need to know.  (Shhhh, don't tell if you know).

A few other X&Os on my table…..with Valentine's Day around the corner there is much bounty, it's hard to resist.  But do visit Pacokeco on Etsy if you need some of the cool tags.

In the current crusade we are looking at shapes.  I love obsessing over them because once you have an awareness of a fave shape you tend to see it everywhere.  Trying on a new shape is like putting on new glasses – oh! the things you will see.  Like the shapes, these letters are finding me.  Love that.  ox
