happy feet

So yesterday I was in this shoe store that is going out of business and I spy these snazzy green boots that were priced at $32.  Walked right by.  Last night I couldn't stop thinking about them.  They were such an awesome color.  I thought, hmmm, they are suede….why would I buy suede boots….they would only get wrecked in the snow which is the only time I would wear them.  EXCEPT maybe every day in the studio because it gets a little brisk in here in the winter.  This morning – went staight to the store, tried them on, and they were so warm and cozy!  I uttered out loud that I wish they came in red, but that the green was pretty cool too.  She rung me up.  $12.80.  Hello?  Ran back for a second pair.  I'm like that….buy two of everything.  Just in case.

So I am so psyched with my score, and it just begins to snow, so I put on my boots.  Here I am walking around with a long black coat, black scarf, red gloves, and green boots.  I am practically skipping with glee even though I must look like, well….didn't matter.  Then it occurs to me – I'm wearing my palette!

There was a sale on sweaters….guess what color I got?  Good thing I was wearing my boots, got a perfect match!

What’s the saying… you are what you paint? LOL! Love the boots and the little chunky heel on them, too. Hey!! I’m the first one to comment, that never happens…maybe has to do with the fact that it’s 1:30AM EST.

Love that touch of spring reminder for your feet. I’d love to score like that. I’m so glad they were still there when you realized you HAD to have them.
I don’t wear my art palette so much (other than blues & purples) because I like to work with colors that I can’t/don’t wear. That’s one of the treats of painting.

Grrreat boots!!! funnily enough someone asked me the other day what my favcourite colours were and I said sunset colours and purple (always predminant in anything I make). Then he asked why I never wear those colours. Maybe I should?

I agree, wear your colours! Funny how some things sort of keep calling you, then you know you really want them, rigt! And at that price, you may even not worry about wearing them in the snow!

OOOh so cute !!! I love a green boot ! Never had any – green shoes, yes (Like my El Naturalista clogs in lime green on my feet right now which are now my in the house slippers for winter – I paid full price for them last year – $125.00 !!! I will wear them year round until they fall off my feet but I do love them !!!). But never a boot. Green is my fav ! Such a deal too ! Gotta love that !
So cool that you are wearing your palette ! I often wear my favorite color but not the entire palette.
Love “you are what you paint” up there from Julie too !
Thanks for the green footed fun !
    Cheers, Baby !

Love your new boots. That green is one of my favorite colors!! Your pages are great, too.
I guess I’ve never thought about wearing my palette, I am however, wearing my cat- he’s draped around my neck like a ”cat scarf” LOL

OMG, those palette colors are some of my favorites! LOVE the books! I’d like to paint walls that color green and throw in the red furniture with splashes of several shades of green. Wouldn’t that be so pretty?!

    Michelle –
Sometimes I wear my palette, but it is purely unintentional….sometimes my paint gets away from me. I guess that’s the reason for the apron! 😉
    Great boots and GREAT pages!
    Congrats on the fabulous find!!
    Until later,
    Judy

Just catching up with the earlier carvings post…tracing paper, folded into quadrants…duh. I can honestly say that I would never have thought of it. On to more complex designs. Since my palette these days has a lot of orange and egg-yolk yellow, guess I’m not wearing ’em. Your boots have to be the bargain of the week. And green, too.

I love those boots! And what a steal!
    Love those papers too.

  17. Anita Van Hal Avatar

oooooooooooooooooooo! Yeah, I’d do that too…although I’m most noted for not being able to decide on one color of something, so will buy every color available that I like “just in case.” That is in addition to my almost fetish obsession with white T-shirts and jeans…
Love love love the color palette and papers! What a creative fun exercise!

    hello Michelle,
I have the same “problem”… when I like something and I have to choose, I mostly buy it both… ( you never know if you’ll have this opportunituy again! )
Sometimes my friend asks advice when she’s in doubt to choose between two things… and then she starts laughing and says ” I know your answer” 🙂
Past winter I was looking for woolen “cache-coeurs”, cause that flatters my bodyshape more… but they are not in fashion this winter 🙁
I almost gave it up : I rather have cold, than wearing something I don’t like…
Then I saw in one shop a clearance from the previous winter : “cache coeurs in “my” blue, purple and black”!!!
They were a third of the price and I was already paying, when I ran back and bought a second one of each color…
    i’m sooo glad I have this “problem”…
I like the green too, but I wouldn’t have thought to combine it with red and black. The combination looks great !
IF I wear green ( mostly limegreen or mossgreen), I combine it with purple.
And I DO wear my colors : I have a whole palet of “blues” and “purples” to wear…
It is also reflected in my creative work, but I guess you’ve seen that on my website…:)
greetings from Belgium ( where it is NOT snowing and spring is even coming a bit… my tulips are already peeking 2 inches above the ground)

Yes, I wear my palette too. I’ve done art fairs where people have commented that I blend in with my art. Tee, hee. Love your new boots 🙂

    Hi Michelle,
Love your bargain! Love the colour of these boots. I don’t wear my palette- everything I have is black- except for my converse.

  32. Kelsey Avatar

Cool boots M! I’m sure a good spray of a protective water-proofing stuff will help with them looking good as new if you HAVE to wear them outside. lol Red would’ve been wonderful too!
I sort of wear my palette, autumn hues are my favourite… olives, deep reds, browns, black. Though I am trying to venture into other colours in my artwork, definitely no bright primary colours though for me!

Your boots match my mouse pad! Good question, do I wear my color palette. I guess I need to stop and think about my palette. I wear a lot of black, brown, and lately red. Now that I think of it I’m experimenting more with color in both my journals and in my wardrobe. Whenever I wear teal or dark purple people go ooooh and comment on how good I look. I still love my black and brown and gray.
    Happy boots! Killer price!
