positive spin

I've adored the maltese cross for years.  I wear one every day.  I play with the image often in my work, and you've seen it show up in my own carvings and my rubber line.  Because I tend to be linear, and literal, I never considered the 45 degree variation of the "+" to make it a "x".   You'll see I went nuts experimenting with my new perspective.  Anytime I discover a form or shape I invest a little time making new tools….

And more unfinished pages….sometimes it just feels good to get something started on the page.  It's a process to make additions to a painted background….it can take days to complete, or it may always stay as an experimental background.

I'm taking an a quick trip home to see my sister.  Squeeze your eyes tight and spin those positive vibes and prayers our way.  Take a deep breath and appreciate what your healthy lungs can do.  Shout and sing on the 4th of July….because you can.  And never forget to wink and whisper sweet somethings to your loved ones.  xoxo

All manner of totally positive and good things are coming Shannon’s way. Have a safe trip, Michelle.
The artwork is again just incredible. I have a “thing” for red crosses. I just got an ancient little first aid cabinet only because it has a red cross painted on the glass pane in front. Take good, good care and know that we all have Shannon in our hearts and prayers. xox

Enjoy your visit, and give your Mom (and Shannon)a hug for me while you’re home, ok? Knowing you’re in the state next door makes me crazy, about a 5 hour road trip, so close! I’m loving those journal pages, but the pages that you drew the flowers on is my absolute favorite. Haven’t seen you do much of that, and you certainly do it well!

Wow! These pages are just so yummy. I have to find myself some spray cans and make some stencils to use in my journals. I’m so glad I stumbled on your blog.

  36. Jennifer White Avatar

It’s just dawning on me now I guess… with all the designs and stamps that you carve, do you first design by hand or use photoshop to make your stencil? Looking at these again brings back memories from class last year…they are fantastic and I like the turn that you made from “introducing a new friend to an old friend” … proof that change and transformation are both positive things that can happen in one’s life.

  37. TJ Avatar

Oooh this is lovely! It is funny what a change in perspective can do. I’ve heard of drawing exercises where they flip the subject upside down which is probably easier than getting the artist to create while standing on their head. happy creations from tj
