I've gotten lots of feedback here, and by email, on the pockets I created on the last RubyTuesday journal page. I guess I have always liked to give a little dimension to a page – especially to hold something special like a message or a token of some kind. I browsed through my archives recently and found lots of evidence that am indeed a pocket-kind-of-girl.

LOVE your pockets!! I am going to have to pull out my True Colors book and look at it again. Don’t remember seeing the Nighmare Before Christmas pocket.
I can’t imagine anyone not LOVING pockets…I use them whenever and wherever I can. Sometimes when I don’t use pockets I will create a flap instead, just as effective as a pocket. One year in my calendar RR I tried to use a different pocket (and paperdoll) on every sign in page….I’ll have to go back and look at that again. Reminds me that I really need to find a new RR project to get involved in….
Hope you are feeling much better!
Until later,

Ah, memories of TRUE COLORS and the delight that I felt opening each new book as it arrived every month. Your work, along with all of your pockets and numerous other fab tricks, continues to amaze and inspire. Maybe we should get fans to deluge the publisher with requests for THE UNPUBLISHED pages of TRUE COLORS, of which there are zillions.
Thanks for this exciting post! -
OH, I just pour over that True Colors every now and then, and your pockets are groovy! I wanted to put pockets on that puffy envelope page thingie whatever it is in that love book…QUITE a challenge not having the tags fall into the envelope forever! But what do I see? Tyvek pockets with lenses to pull out?! I say SWOON. I also say: use the idea and make it my own and then talk about you for a year when people ask me about it.
The best thing about pockets is that they can be yet another way of adding mystery to something, and a sense of anticipation, and that’s what I like so much about a lot of your work. Did you ever see The Court Jester? When Danny Kaye hid the hankerchief from his secret lover in one of the pockets of his tunic? It had that diamond pattern, and the pocket was angled.
Okay, this comment is too long.

pockets are high on my list of favorite things! I like them in my coats…in my purses..in my bags…in my pants…and …oh yeah…in my ART!!!

chocolate….LOL
I love to see all these pockets.
My favorite is still the princess on the peas sign in page. As “true colors” was a book in which I “discovered” you this page really caught my attention and made me remember your name.
Nice to see also the other pockets of the journals : cause not everything is in the book !
Hmm… nightmare before christmas fan too 🙂
I vote together with Lisa to publish more of the unpublished pages of the journals. I’m sure they still are actual and would offer a lot of information and inspiration.

Beautiful post, Michelle! I especially am interested in knowing more about the first image, the Autumn Pocket page… and especially about how you made those “tri-fold” pockets. Gorgeous colors and papers. You rock, girl! xoxo

I’ve got a pocket post up my sleeve, you beat me to it… I put a pocket on the inside of every notebook and journal to keep little this and that in that I don’t want to fall out!
I’ve got a new tissue paper post up, by the way. 🙂 -
Ahhhh, I love your pockets! And of course, I still love True Colors. Thanks for inspiring me – as you always do! hugs,

I haven’t got that book – I think I’m going to have to get it. thanks for the pocket inspiration!

I love pockets, too! As I’m sure you can imagine… I haven’t managed to work them into any of my projects yet… how has that happened? I do have a pocket stamp that I carved, which if I ever turn PocketSize Studios into a business will be my logo. Your pockets are fabulous. I love the story behind the wedding ones!

Michelle, this post is the reason why True Colors remains my number one go-to book for divine inspiration. Your pages were and are just astounding. I LOVE that idea of another volume of pages that weren’t shown the first time around! Hope you’re feeling fit as a fiddle these days. oxox
