don’t you love May?

MWmayday09

I went to Lowe's for some contact cement (for mounting rubber, see below) and walked out with this lovely new rose bush.  I could have added 3 or 4 more other rose varieties to my cart but I will let my kids get me some for Mother's Day and my birthday later this month :)  Isn't this Diana divine?

Right out front we have this lilac bush – I love this time of year when the fragrance surrounds our home, inside and out.  Mmmm, take a deep breath.

The TruGreen guy stopped by this week.  He was walking the neighborhood trying to drum up business.  He thinks we need to get rid of the clover patches in our yard.  So I made him wait a second while I fetched my "lucky soup".  He nodded and walked away after claiming he had never seen a real four leaf clover, let alone a bowl of them.  I love how he took a second look out of the corner of his eye as he walked back down the driveway past my lucky "weeds".

This week we had a lucky visit from my Mom to celebrate Fallon's confirmation!  She knows some of my Valley Ridge friends will see this so she said to say hello.  Hello.

The first batch of Hot Topic has been arriving around the globe!  There have been a few questions from first-timers to unmounted rubber.  First, let me say the images are really packed in on the sheet and you have to carefully cut them apart.  I know I know I know you are cursing me that some are too close and you are saying you didn't realize you had to have a surgical residency before cutting rubber.  Just take it slow and try using a utility knife in the tight spots.  Second, here is a quickie on how I mount my rubber with kneeling pads.  (They were in the dollar section of my Target this week, bonus!)

I’m so envious that you have blooming roses AND lilacs already, Michelle! Here in Michigan, we’re just getting tiny hints of buds popping out of branches – we’ve got a few more weeks until we see blooms. ๐Ÿ™‚

Your new roses are lovely ! What a beautiful variety !
Lilacs are my very favorite scent of the year ! I have a huge white one outisde my bedroom window and I love to smell it wafting into the room at night.
Congrats to Fallon on her confirmation. Fun to see the pictures of your gang.

Happy Confirmation to Fallon! I loved the photo of your kids — they look so grown up. How does that happen so quickly?
Your new roses are lovely! Be sure to plant them so they have good air circulation to prevent disease and give them a nice, rich dressing of composted manure. I hope they give you a bounty of gorgeous blooms all spring and summer.
BTW — Good for you for telling the weed guy to take a hike! What he doesn’t realize is that stuff gets into the ground water and causes problems for a lot more than a harmless patch of clover.

Congrats to Fallon, HI to your MOM, and yes, I was one that was a cursin’ under my breath when I was cutting my WONDERFUL to-die-for stamps received last week. I took a deep breath and started away. I still love ya, tho. The first time these will be used will be in my “off” the Walls Notebook! The rose is absolutely gorgeous and are your “weeds” *wink*

A jam packed week for you… hello to you mom for me, she looks fantastic!! And I must say, I am soooo envious of not only the roses in bloom but also the lilacs! We aren’t quite there yet in Wisconsin, at least everything is green for us now…magnolias are in bloom so hopefully tulips and lilacs and lily of the valley are not too far behind.
Can’t wait for my rubber to come this week….will cut it as precise as my orthopedic surgeon will cut my ankle on Friday (yes, you read this right…we need to catch up!).

Yes, Here we are just getting leaves on our Lilacs. I find this weather so odd, here you are “north”-east of us “Michiganders” and you are already in bloom? Go figure.
I have a questions, what “acylic frames” are you talking about for storage of the mounted stamps, and does the rubber cement dry out the rubber stamps? Just Curious, I havent mounted mine yet.
My two eldest made their Confirmations the same time they made their Holy Communions. My last did not want to make either? She completed her Catechism, but decided she did not want to do it. I am Happy for Fallon, Congratulations!

Wow on the Diana roses, love them. Congrats Fallon! Hopefully my oldest will make his next year. This last Saturday, my Mom called me to tell me she was at her friends farm picking 4 leaf clovers, and already had 8 of them. I told her I didn’t know how in the world you and her found them so easily. She said her eye is drawn to them for their symmetry. Then the light bulb went off. You both have a design backround, duh! Now I know how you two can spot those mysterious little buggers. Can’t wait to mount my rubber!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Your new rose is beautiful! And I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many four leaf clovers!
Thanks for the tutorial about unmounted stamps. I didn’t know much about them until I read this.
