behind window no. 1

I love anything with little windows and doors, especially when there are secrets behind them.  Today I got out my collection of Advent Calendars.  Here are a few, collected over the years from BasBleu.  Can you stand it?  Russian and Italian architecture with WINDOWS AND DOORS!

Here's one I made a few years ago – behind each window is my collection of Madonna & Child Christmas postage stamps – looks kinda lame now so I'm about to start a new one.  Not a real advent calendar, but still a countdown of sorts.  I'm determined to make a little something each day before Christmas as inspired by my friend Kathryn who has prompted her posse of Soul Journalers on her blog.  Kathryn challenges you to chronicle gifts of gratitude….on the heels of Thanksgiving, it's perfect.  Two inches a day on a journal page seems do-able, and it will keep me plugged in to good vibes taking me right up to Christmas.  The day is almost over….gotta get Day One made.

Brings back a ton of memories for me as a kid that I haven’t thought about for years. Always chocolate behind those windows and I couldn’t wait until the next day. Now thinking about that, I like the idea of a different kind of treat behind the door or window like you mentioned….a beautiful stamp, a tiny quote, even a picture that makes me smile would be great.
Thanks for jogging my memory on something that brought back a smile.

It’s great to read you are going to make a new calender based on Kathryns ideas !!! I’m amazed at all the inspiration she has about this. She really is a souljournaller and it also give us a peek into the woman she really is… So, I get to know her better and better and maybe next year we meet in person in Belgium!!

I love Advent calendars, and yet never seem to get one. Bas Bleu always has the best ones! I love yours, wasn’t that in Somerset Studio once?

This was the first art work of yours I saw and I loved it. It’s so inspiring and you made it sound easy for a beginner to do. Can’t wait to see what you do with your new calendar.

I had a look at their site and seriously, the Russian church makes me go giddy with delight – gorgeous, inside and out. Looking forward to seeing your new calender art.
Reminds me, I done 2 GPP challenges and failed to add my links…….must get a move on before the next one.

what a SUPER collection. And the best?? DEFINITELY yours, somehow it makes connection with your workshop next year… Those colors, the little windows. I just love it all. PLEASE don’t think about throwing it away or not even not using it. Some thing get better when they get older. This one DOES.

Oh Man…the memories indeed….My Mom used to find these great little European Advents with the sweetest drawings behind the doors, often with a touch of glitter before the Glitter Tsunami even started on the pages of Somerset etc. Later we moved on to the chocolate advents. Even Starbucks has done a line of chocolate advents for the last 3 years. Thanks for the memories…..
Your calendar is SO beautiful and lyrical. The colors are delightful. Yum.
