Back to Reality

Literally.  School started today.  Bummer.  End of sweet summer lazy days.  One more year of Mommy-hood feels like it got ticked off.  Sure, I’ll always be their Mom, but our kids are getting older and these summers together are limited.  Next year Peter wil be driving and most likely working (we hope) so today I am feeling empty-ish.  There are Moms that have waited weeks for this day to arrive.  Not me.

A quote arrived by email yesterday.  Made me think of the free time that lays ahead of me.  Days to myself (well a few hours at least).  I do admit to loving this time in my studio.  I love that I have cleared my schedule of deadlines so my creative time is MINE.

Lots of things to get working on….unfinished projects & ongoing collaboratives.  Things that have been dormant while enjoying the family time of summer.  The beginning of a school year means so much to learn….for all of us.  Permission to embark on new adventures.  Sharpen the pencils, get out the notebook, set the course for a new season.

Gppstrteamlink1_2 We had over 100 links for the last Street Team crusade so I decided we needed 2 winners.  Lots of NOISE!  Congrats to Marilyn and Fiona

We have started up Crusade No. 12, come over and play!

Such great words of wisdom (both yours and the quotes) wrapped around another gorgeous post…thank you, Michelle. Enjoy your quiet studio time even though you’re missing those family filled days of summer.

Love these quotes but the colors of your graphics are excellent! Cool type styles too.
Excuse me, I need to jump over to the Street Team and see what in the heck you’ve cooked up THIS month. You’re building a wonderful community. When I posted a Street Team entry, I got mail from around the World! As you are wont to say:
    H.C.I.T.??!!!!

I am going to be utterly honest, at the begining of this post I felt your saddness, but by the end I was feeling really excited. I can’t wait for these new adventures and I look forward to seeing what you will create and share with us. Ux

Those quotations are wonderful. You’re right, the beginning of a school year is a great time to get started again, even for those of us not in school. I guess it’s no coincidence that the school year starts at a transition between seasons. Thank you for the inspiration!

I always dreaded the beginning of the school year when my children were young. All of the other Mom’s couldn’t wait but I loved the the whole unscheduled summer. By the way, I have the stamp you used in your blog and I love it.

Love the quotes Michelle…I think a quote a day is a good thing. A mod on a yahoo group I’m on posts a different quote each day, something I look forward to as it’s always very insightful!
Please tell what fantastic font you’ve used for the Will Rogers quote…it’s just wonderful!!!

Michelle…i love all the quotes you shared. Montana started pre-K and it was a day that I was dreading. I was so sad and still am when I have to drop him off as he still gets upset when I have to leave the class as this is a whole new experience to him still. I miss him so much and am so happy once I get in that car to go pick him up. I do know that it is a good thing and he will learn alot and I know that eventually I will get used to it. Six hours is still a long time to be without him everyday :o( Hope all is well and that you got some rest from your trips. Later.

Yes, even in my house, where my kids are all grown, the summer has come to a close….always marked by my husband’s return to school! But it also marks the time when I go back into my studio,…so it’s a nice yin and yang and how fortunate are we, who love what we do, that we can’t wait to get to work! In California, this is the closest we have to changing seasons!
Loved your post on your concert…you are SO cool Michelle! Gotta love that about you…you ROCK!

I understand the feeling at the end of each summer, mostly because I teach and it is hard to go back to work, and it is hard to send my youngest back to the sitter. But I feel fortunate that I am able to stay home the short time that I am able.

Terrific quotes, Michelle! Sounds like you and the kids had a fabulous summer together. Are they happy to be back at school with their friends? And I know what you mean about Fall and feeling the need and desire to CREATE. Maybe that’s imprinted on us from OUR start-of-school days? Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting together with you again soon. Hey did you get into the silkscreening class? I did. Hope you did, too. 🙂

Love the quotes and the colors you chose to work with! Imagine was my favorite song back in High School… what a great choice to use and in such a clever way. Thank you for the tribute!
