Art Saves

Have you heard?  My friend Jenny has moved on from Stampington and is launching a new online venture, Crescendoh.com.   Look for it March 1st.  I was honored to create one of the logos, for her Art Saves campaign.  She will be spreading the word, through personal stories, of how Art Saves.  Until the site goes live you can follow her blog HERE

MW Art Saves

We all know how creativity has enriched our lives.  We each have our own story.  In fact, we each have many stories.  There are the epic tales that include our full history of how art made a difference in our life, and/or continues to fulfill us.  There are also abbreviated versions that are just as important – maybe how one little project turned into something bigger than itself.   Or how we made connections to new people through art.  Or how being an artist helped us through something, or enabled us make an impact on another.  If I were to pick one story for myself…..well, that would be hard.

But this is easy….showing how being creative made a difference as I shared a new experience with my daughter Fallon and her friend Lindsey.  Art Saved a sleepover from becoming just another Friday night.

Art saves me as I take each step on this new journey … it’s something that will always come out of me … and as it does, it is what tells me that everything will be OK.
Thanks for designing such a strong launch logo. My entire team and I are thrilled and honored.
    HCIT?

I’ve been following Jenny’s blog & saw this logo repeatedly with her CHA posts. I should have known you were the designer because something so familiar resonated from it.
    Congratulations on an excellent design.
Love the concept of Art Saves and that you are sharing it with your family. I have splendid memories of pouring over art with my nieces that are a salve to my soul. Sharing art making is definitely a way that Art Saves. Thanks for reminding us.

I think you already know how art has saved me, Michelle…almost two years and you know the impact of who’s made an impact on my life. So much so, I’m not sure where I’d be with them (you, Misty, Julia, Kathy, Katie)…people I would never be able to call my dear friends if it weren’t for finding Valley Ridge and then finding each of you….love you so dearly.
You KILLED the logo, LOVE it. And I so want to come over and learn to felt, if I leave now I’ll see you in about 15 hours.

I’ve been following Jenny’s blog and loved the logo! It’s beautiful.
You know how much Carrie and I love sharing our art. Some of my favorite memories of time spent with her are of us working together sewing costumes, knitting and paper crafting. I’m so happy you got to share felting with Fallon and her friend. I think, like Carrie, she’ll remember that Friday night, and creating with you forever. It’s a wonderful thing!

    Hello Michelle,
I saw the logo on Jenny’s blog and how she spread the word in all her photos of CHA ! I commented on her blog that I liked the logo and I loved the fact that you designed it. When I first saw it, me too I had the feeling it was familiar and I asked myself if you had designed it : a while further I read you did 🙂
Art in any form saved me already several times : as a kid, a teenager, a young mom and the past four years I really entered the artworld. You are one of the persons who guided my in this new trip : as a teacher and an artist I admire.
I even try to bring more ART in the lives of my handicapped children of my Poppyclass to let them experience a lot.
I now can’t imagine a day that I don’t create anything, even just a little small thing. I savour the fact that my daughter has the same genes 🙂
I love your story about the friday evening : not all kids have creative moms and never have the chance to experience something themselves. You may bet this evening will be remembered not only by you and your daughter, but her friend may pass it on to her relatives.

Thanks for the heads up! For years, art is the only thing that decreased pain for me, and I just posted last night about art, color, music, etc saved my mind while I was in the hospital recently. It does work!
