  • feels good!

    MWLisaSign

Not going to show you the inside YET.  It's still in-progress but nearly done.  Feels so good to shake off stuff and declutter, organize….and rediscover some of my supplies!  When I'm short on surfaces to work on there is always the trusty clipboard, one of my favorite studio tools.  I clip under a page I'm working on – sometimes one under each side.  They keep my pages flat which is especially nice if there is something lumpy on the previous spread.  I can cut right into a page with my exacto, the board acting as a cutting mat too.

     MWclipboard

During the clean sweep my eyes were opened to just how many clipboards I have accumulated.  I won't even admit to how many scissors I have *grin*.

    MWclipboardstash

I do admit I'm a terrible put-away-er.  Mail bins seem to multiply in my studio.  No more!  No fines for me. (The U.S. Mail bins clearly warn against misuse of postal property.  I'm returning these today.)

Most of the trash bags left on Friday but more will go out on Tuesday.  Dude!  I'm nearly done!  Who wants a tour?  Bribes required.

  • out of my league

Check out this perfume!  What clever packaging.  One even sprays in color (then it fades).  I'd love a whiff of it….might have to pop into Barneys next time I'm in the city to see if they have a sample.  I wish my favorite room spray came in a can like this.  THAT I could afford.

    MWwode

I've been tucked away in my studio doing a major overhaul and shaking off alot of stuff.  It feels good to invest time in this place – way overdue.  I've cleared a path so you don't have to hop on one foot to get around, and soon you won't need a helmet or tetanus booster to visit me here.  All my books are finally in one place, all my spray cans, stencils, and brushes are neatly organized.  I have 5 large plastic bins filled with bottles of acrylic paint.  If I ever mention I'm going out to buy paint STOP ME.   I can even see a cleared work surface.  *faints*

  • here’s what happens…..

She was hopping around online and somehow found me….wrote me…."I love your work and I want some".  That was four months ago.  She built a website and I did her graphics.  Since then she's been lobbing assignments my way and I do my best to complete them.  It's been fun!  Little did I know when I started messing around in Photoshop that my playtime would become a day job.  You put yourself out there with no real agenda and the people you are meant to meet find you.  Here's what I've been doing:

    MWfairendeldotcom

Irina has boutiques in Carlsbad, CA and Del Mar, CA.  If you ever stop in there let me know – I'm dying to hear all about it.  Her online store is FairenDel.com

  • make it your own

Over on my Street Team site I have posted a new challenge, Crusade No. 31 ~ Make It Your Own.  Come on over and see what it's about.  If you're at work you might want to turn down your speakers as the loud music may cause a stir.

Did you vote last night?  I hope you dialed 01, 03 or 05!  Whoever wins (it better be Adam) I think it's a great show.  Fun to see people step up and go for it, using their talent.  It's always interesting to hear the judges, especially Simon.  I appreciate his honesty.  They are looking for star power, for uniqueness, for individuality.  I hear them say many times "you really made that song your own".  Stand out.  Be extraordinary.  We may not sing well, but we can strive for that same personal expression in our art.  THAT is exactly what we are sharing with Crusade No. 31.

    MWAidol09

UPDATE:  Congrats to Kris Allen.  Great show – fun to see KISS and Queen.  The P!NK song the American Idols opened with sums it up "so what, I'm still a rock star…."  I'm with you Adam.

  • 5.5………5

Do you have MSN.com set as your home page?  If you do, you were treated to this clever ad campaign by Chanel for their new No. 5 commercial starring Audrey Tautou.  Love how the train ran across the top banner and the schedule billboard dropped down across the screen.  Love how the whole page was redesigned.  I spent some time this morning clicking around HERE where you can see the long and short version of the 'film', and even behind-the-scenes.  Then it dawned on me…..today is 5/5.  LOVE that kind of CLEVER.

    MWchanel2

Everything about Chanel is classy don't you think?  Karl Lagerfeld puts on tremendous runway shows for House of Chanel.  Did you see the one with all the paper flowers?  Imagine the work that went into this!

    MWchanel4

My own connection to Chanel:  the first gift I ever got from Graham was Chanel perfume, before we were married.  No. 5 is a fave.  And not more than a mile from our home is a huge Chanel coumpound.  It's two buildings and there is an over-the-street walkway connection between them.  I often wonder what goes on in there – kinda like the Wonka factory.  When the packaging used to say "Paris London New York" I thought it should include Piscataway.  What if the same water I drink is used to make No. 5?

I adored the Baz Luhrmann/Nicole Kidman commercial from a few years back.  I never knew you could see the "making of" clips until I went HERE, also found on youtube.  And for the newest one, visit HERE.  Did anyone see the Coco Avant Chanel?  It hasn't been here yet.  Hope I didn't miss it.

  • sheesh, it’s hot

We melted today.  95* is too hot for April.  At least it didn't rain and I could do a little spraying.

I love collecting type from magazines but I don't really care what it says.  I will scudge up these pages tomorrow with some sandpaper and then spray paint so they look like decaying posters often seen on random surfaces in New York.  This Walls Notebook is perfect for that.

    MWtype

I confess, I've put up a few posters myself – although it's been a while since my HIM Street Team sniped in the city.   We need a new album so we can launch a crusade.  Here's some old Evidence.  Kat didn't mind getting the heartagram sticker…she's a fan.

Speaking of crusades, No. 30 is coming to an end.  We are discussing journaling in your journal with Cat Got Your Tongue?  Come play before it's over!
