smell museum

Back in the 80's (when I was wearing Lauren, following a stint with Love's Rain Scent) I read this book.  I love Andy's perspective on perfume, and glommed onto his idea of a scent museum.

As I told you, I collect evidence of my home fragrances as a gateway to memory, and I also document personal scents in my journal.

From the archives, we addressed scent in two Crusades. If you are looking of ways to incorporate your smell museum onto a page, come visit: No. 26 ~ Scent of the Season (December 2008) and No. 9 ~ What's That Smell? (June 2007)

It's a new season….have you selected a new fragrance to remember it by?

Don't stop at scents….music is another powerful bridge to memory.  Document your favorite playlists too!

Ack!  It's after 12.  Time to order tickets for Apocalyptica….

Love that excerpt from Andy Warhol! My current favorites are Conservatory (my everyday scent now) and Nevermore (my scent for when I’m wearing Ravens stuff ;)) from Steam Bath Factory. That Amor Amor you show up there sounds fabulous. I love scents!

Oh, a gal after my own heart – I wore Lauren in the 80s, too! And then on to Eternity. Right now I’m hooked on Jo Malone stuff – especially Blue Agave & Cacao. Oh, yes, scent is so important. Love the documenting suggestions!

oh i love scents. they DO bring back memories and actually for a moment you are transported back to that moment. i srsly believe that. i have a scent that i wear now that a friend has concocted for me and i just love it. it is made with about 5 different scents…can’t remember them all…some sort of blueberry, sandalwood, patchouli, musk and one more. sounds like a lot mixed together i know, but you only wear a tiny drop. it is the elixir for my soul and i love it!
hope you got the tix!!! 😉

Now I’m trying to remember the name of the Orlane perfume that I wore in 1976…I remember the smell.

Wow Michelle, that is so interesting to read your thoughts on scents. I have never thought so much about it. It is so true how it can instantly transport you to a specific event. Channel #5 meant mom and dad were going out and most likely dancing. Mom would be all dressed up often in a creation of her own, wearing her gold tinkling charm bracelet. I love to journal and you have inspired me to start a scent journal. What a fantastic idea. thank you :)))
    Cheers
