same fragrance, different day

Mwrosequote4

I like to work on journal pages after I’ve removed them by opening up the spiral.  That allows you to work on a few pages at a time.  It also doesn’t limit you to which direction the page is oriented.  The example below illustrates how this page ended up with no real "this side up".

And after I scan in a page I like to mess around with it digitally.  The original page is above, and below (click to enlarge) are manipulations with colorizing, saturation, gradient, and curves.  It’s all part of learning things in Photoshop but it also gives me a different perspective of how I might approach things on the real page.

I love the ongoing rose theme…..beautiful work!!! Makes me ache to work on art instead of being at work. My list of art I want to create is ever growing. I am stashing the ideas away and will expand on them when I actually start the work.
I also like to remove my pages from my books before I work on them. I don’t always do it but I do when I can.
I check your blog every day to see what new and exciting things you are up to!
    Until later,
    Judy

Fabulous Michelle! Love the use of your painted hand with the rose! xo

I love these pages! Especially the second one. Ya know, I had taken my sketchbook that I’m using as my new art journal off its spiral so that I could work on the pages more easily, too! And outlined parts of my background paper… weird, I guess great minds think alike 😉

I love roses and these pages are gorgeous. Reading about taking your journal apart was an ahaa moment for me. I have been fighting and grumbling at the spirals running down my pages as I am drawing to create. Is it possible to re-spiral or do you put together your pages in another format?
    Thanks,
    Susan
P.S. I love your blog and your artwork is truly inspiring?????

Oh My God!!!!!! Those question marks are supposed to be exclamation marks. I feel like an idiot. I cannot talk and type at the same time. Feel free to delete that last comment.

Absolutely beautiful!! I had you already classified as a pro with photoshop!
I am wondering now: Do you “re-spiral” the pages once they are finished? Do you print out and then bind the digitally altered pages?

This is great! I have had difficulty integrating my non-digital art into the computer. I scan it in and then get paralyzed by all the possibilities. Thanks for simplifying things for me.

Oh, isn’t color amazing?! How much it changes how something FEELS.
    Great evidence. Thanks for sharing!

Woman, you are so creative. I am so glad to see that you are on a creative roll. I am loving the Rose theme. My fave digital image is the bottom left hand corner. I must dig out my gesso!!!

Now why didn’t I think of that with those spirals on my own!! I always toss them & use a continuous coil, not thinking outside the box again, it’ll get me everytime!

It is great to have a small window into your process and it is fantastic to see the different outcomes from using different tools digitally.

I love sharing the process, thankyou. Mx

I can’t believe how simple but how genius the idea you have come up with is! I have a journal that is all pulled apart because the spiral has come loose. And now I see how easy you can fix that with wire wrapping! Amazing!

Great artwork and I especially love what you have come up with for the binding- But best of all is your hair. You have the hair style I would love to have. Is that strange to say? Hope not.
