respite with the roses

Yesterday Susanna and I met for coffee.  I was telling her I would cut her some roses from my garden when she asked if I had been to the Rose Garden at a nearby park.  Hello?  No way, never heard of it.  She made a u-turn and off we went for a beautiful morning walk through the garden and down to the river.   I was so enamored with the new destination that I returned later in the afternoon with my camera and with Fallon who fancies herself a budding photographer.

I can imagine how beautiful this garden is in May but the fine October day was perfect.  I will return often.  Susanna shared her favorite spot along the river and we sat for a moment.  The water was clear and moving so slowly – I could have stayed all day.  When I went back with Fallon I wanted to take her to the river but the gates were closed.  I looked out across the field where I had walked earlier that morning and blew a kiss, because it's where I found this:

MWhersign

I told Shannon I was going to look for her everywhere.  When I asked her what her sign would be she claimed a four leaf clover.  I said that wasn't fair because I find them all the time – how would I know it was her?  Yesterday, I knew.

I told you I’m not a believer in a god, but I do believe in my guardian angels ( my sister, my two dads).
My mom also asks for a sign now and then and it is sometimes hard to believe , but she really get signs : things that are a bit too special to take for granted…
    Yes, I believe Shannon sended a sign…
Beautiful roses from your garden and from the park ! Give Fallon a compliment on her photography skills and her eye for beauty !!
    hugs

I asked for a sign from uncle when he passed (we were very close)and his indisputable sign still gives me shivers. I believe, without any shadow of a doubt, that life goes on in some fashion. I don’t believe that God demands that we believe, I think it is only required for us to have an open heart. Blessings

Fallon’s right, she *is* a photographer. And Shannon was right too. It’s a good sign, because you do find them all the time, and Shannon is right there with you. Hugs.

This was a beautiful post, Michelle. I love how you shared some beautiful gifts from your “chicks”…your talented daughter, and your smart and “always there for you” sister.
When my dad was dying, 13 years ago now, I asked him what his sign would be too. He said he would send a rainbow. I remember thinking the same as you, how would I know which rainbow was him ? But somehow, they just let you know…
    Squishy hugs, as you say!

It will be 7 years in November since my mom passed away. I had always believed that there were coincidences that happened in life, being in the right place at the right time, etc. I continue to receive “winks” from my mom daily…I truly believe this. Mostly, it’s a streetlight going on or off at the exact time I was thinking of her or something I may be struggling with in my life.
Signs give me hope. Signs give me comfort as if my best friend were still with me.
The roses are fabulous…I received two dozen today for bosses day, and thought of you and Shannon.
    Coincidence? No.. a sign.
    xoxo

Okay. Thanks. My mascara is ALL over my face. That last bit about your clover did it.
I have no doubt that when we “feel” that someone is close by, they ARE.
Nice camera work Fal,…how old are you again?…twenty????

Yes, the clover got me too. Pass on the tissues. Beautiful roses and photographs. For some twisted reason I loved the picture of the thorns…must be a texture thing.

What a touching post……..the walk in the rose garden and the beautiful pictures caught my attention right away but …..the fact that the whole experience led to a sign from your sister is absolutely no coincidence.
Actually – it would have made an excellent show for Touched By An Angel…… cause you just were.
    Lovely post,

What a beautiful post. One thing I really REALLY love is how you edge your photos with those cool patterns. I see the gothic influence. Hmmmm I’ll be inspired but will try not to copy. It will be hard as they are so very cool. You put a smile on my face with your most recent comment on my blog. I can’t wait to see how you decorate for Halloween. I did know you last year at this time!
