play your *drum*

Follow me.  I was watching the lighting of the Rockefeller Center tree (so I could tell Sam when Miley Cyrus was on), and Faith Hill performed Little Drummer Boy.  I couldn't find it on youtube, but found her on Letterman HERE.  Beautiful.  That made me want to revisit Bing & Bowie's version HERE.  LOVE that one.  Then I wanted to see the original…. HERE.  So dear.  And you know when you are on youtube you can spend a whole morning clicking through the 'related videos'.  And whether you prefer the Bob Seger version of the song, or Josh Grobans, the message is clear….

I know it may be hard to find the time as the holiday approaches to make gifts which makes it even more special to actually Do It, and Give It.  We often underestimate ourselves and our work don't we?  Shake that off.  You have the Stuff, you have the Talent.  Use It.  Made with Love, Wrapped with Love, Sent with Love.  Do It.

If you didn't click on my links above (they open in a new window so you can listen and keep bloghopping) stop for a minute.  And listen.   You can blame me for the song playing in your head all day.  Keep painting, keep knitting, keep drumming.

Michelle, This is a beautiful post that caused my heart to swell & my eyes filled with tears. And then I had to stay up another 45 minutes composing & editing a post in response. I’ve linked readers to your post.
Thank you for the UTube links. I had never realized that Bing Crosby was singing with David Bowie on that song. It’s just been background music thru the season so many times.
    xo

Michelle, How well put. Your post is very beautiful. Thank you, and as Regina said above, I did not have a dry eye.

I love that Erma Bombeck quote. A coworker has it framed in her office and I’ve been meaning to put it in my journal.
I’m at work at the moment, so the YouTube visits will have to wait until tonight…ahhhh until tonight.

Talk about synchronicity: David Bowie is just on the coffee shop sound system.
You always know what needs to be said and just when people need to here it. I’ve always envied that… I clam up like an Aldebaran shell mouth: you just shout from the rooftops… well, a laptop perhaps.
    Thanks

    Great message.
Watching The Little Drummer Boy is a grand tradition in our household. That really the gift we all have and are capable of bringing and giving is realized through our sincerity and our heart. The LDB didn’t think he had a gift to bring but by giving what he knew, he gave all. Brings chills just thinking about it.

Leave it to the nurturing and creative M.W. to remind us that even admidst the Holiday “Crazies” there’s something positive and juicy to ponder: We can use our talent and apply it to the art of gift making-giving-seeking-mailing etc.
Not only THAT, but you even gave us Music to Give By.
    Lovely.

    Hey Michelle,
Catching up indeed. But please don’t count, the years spinning by make me dizzy 🙂
So if you aren’t up for a read have alook at the art. It’s at aogstudios.blogspot.com I think there is a link to it on my side bar. It’s pretty limited becaus I haven’t mastered the art of transferring photos to the ‘puter.
    Have a great Christmas… don’t get snowed in/under/over.
    Sher
