As requested, here are more photos from my Parlor Tricks book….followed by some workshop photos I borrowed from Kathy.  It was frightfully fun!

I've been asked to offer this as an online class which I am giving some serious consideration.  I'm facing a decision – whether or not to have it include a kit that has to be assembled and mailed, or if I should redesign the format so the punched paper and coils are not necessary and all parts could be offered as a printable download.  I would love your feedback…..if you are interested, let me ask you this:

1.  Would you want to receive a kit that is required to make a coil bound book?

OR

2.  Would you prefer to download all the pieces and print from home?

Print from home, please. I can’t wait for this–I was ready two weeks ago!

I love the idea of an online workshop for this project, Michelle. I think printing from home would work just fine. Can’t wait. I know Carrie and I will be eagerly looking forward to it!

I would absolutely love to do an online workshop with you – have loved your work from the early Somerset Studio days! As I am in the UK I guess I would have to pick option 2 – please do it:)

I would be OK with both, but the one to print would probably be easier.

I would love an online class for this.
I think I prefer a physical kit, but I would be ok with printing it at home.
    The project is so cool!

    1. OMG that is so COOL!
    2. OMG YES TEACHING AN ONLINE WORKSHOP WOULD BE SO AWESOME!
    3. Hmmm that’s a tough call, because it would be cool to have all the same stuff as everybody else got, but at the same time, downloads would let us print on whatever we want to, so it would be more customizable that way…. Sorry, that doesn’t really help, does it? I guess I vote downloads!

P.S. – BTW, that skeleton whose picture is between the pic of the 666 measuring tape and the two Villes, is that from Vesalius? It looks really familiar…

An online workshop with you would be awesome – one day maybe I will get to the US!
I have a bind it all so I would be happy with a kit – but a print it yourself would work for those that don’t!
    Eagerly awaiting your decision.

I have always wanted to take a class from you but cannot afford to stay somewhere and classes. This would be a fantastic chance for me! Please contact me with all the particulars!!! thanks!

    hello Michelle,
OMG : you really listen to your far away students !!!
I’m in for the online class : NOW ! LOL
I vote for the download too : class will be payed with a smile , but we save money on the kit and the shipping costs, so it really is affordable that way.
I don’t have a coil binding, but I think the bookbinding technique I learned from Julie Prichard will work on this too.
I came home this evening and an envelop was waiting for me. Yoohoo your stamps arrived !!!
I started cutting immediately and after a while my son Aran asked : ” when will we eat, I’m hungry…” I proposed to him to start making diner and luckily he said yes 🙂
All the stamps are cut and mounted on foam now, so I can start stamping right away !
What a wonderful evening to start my weekend 🙂 ( tomorrow is my day off)
    greetings from belgium

I forgot to tell how cool the books look!!!
The stairs and the library and the fireplace… I knew before that this was a workshop I wished I could follow , but seeing the pictures I wanted it even more. And then you suggest an online class… YES, YES, YES !!

OMG these are amazing photos. I would want to purchase the kit. I would also have to have the “cool dudes” clip art, of course! 🙂

Download please Michelle- post to New Zealand is too slow 😉

I think I must be one of the old fashioned ones (maybe it is a Capricorn thing) – I vote for a posted kit.
The excitement of getting the kit in the post & having something in my hands to start with as a base would make it feel more special – a great motivating start into the online class.

  25. Chris Avatar

    COOOL!!
    I love those scissors!
Those stairs are great. I’m going to have to work on that. Maybe while I’m away, at night, when it’s spooky!
Thanks for posting larger pictures. And those lucky people getting your stamps! I use those most of any of mine.

Since I had to miss the real Roll With It class, I’d love to do this one online as a make-up. Looks like the printing would mostly be B & W so download would great! Thanks.

Love the idea of an online class too. I had a class with you in Maryland what seems like eons ago. I would be fine with either a kit or download… but it looks like downloads would be the best because of your worldwide following!

I am crazy about this project! Please let us know when the kits are ready. I have a bind-it-all, so downloads would be fine. Although a physical kit would be great also, as long as you post to England!

physical kit is a great option for those without the coolest toys. I’m a bit of a ludite and I haven’t print options at home. I know… the library. But you remember how dangerous that place is with the clip art books?

Wow! Amazing books Michelle. Everyone looks like they had great fun. 🙂 Oooh an online class would be just wonderful as I am far away.. something printable sounds good too. Just love your candle graveyard.. now that would make for a great page 🙂 Love the idea of including some wax onto a page..will definately give that a go.. Hope you well..xx I got my backgrounds printed today for the new challenge, can’t wait to get started. Warm wishes, Gez.xx

An online class sounds great. I would prefer a kit mailed to me, just because I don’t have that great of a printer -really crisp prints on nice paper looks so much better. I also don’t have a way to bind the pages . . . I’ve always admired your work and would love to find out your tricks!

  40. Viki Banaszak Avatar
    Viki Banaszak

I would love a kit, but then again I do have a binder so it would be possible for me to make my own. My concern to print it myself would be pages smearing and of course the ever popular running out of ink. Sigh.

  41. Marlynn Avatar

Hey, Michelle, sorry to be chiming in a week late (!) – for me, I would probably prefer a kit but either one would be great. I really think you should start doing online classes! You are an amazing artist and teacher. Nope, would not be the same as being with you in a studio setting – BUT better than nothing and you have so very much to offer us and the world! Hugs

I would LOVE instructions as to how to make this book – wonderful! I would most likely prefer a kit, but either would be fantastic – I do have a rubicoil machine (inspired to buy this from you). I have followed your information on your classes for a long time, wishing that I was there – please make this class available online – thank you!!

Hello Michelle, I would be thrilled to do this class online. My first choice would be to download the kit and print it myself since I do have a binding machine. I live in Canada and mail sometimes is a problem and always more costly. I’m sure it would be very time consuming for you to make, package and mail all those kits. Having said that I would happily purchase a kit if that were the only option. Sure hope you will decide to do this , either way!

  44. Caity O'Connor Avatar

OH MY GOODNESS!I would just LOVE to do this class online since there is probably no way I’ll ever get to take a face-to-face class with you… and I would probably prefer to buy a kit because printing at home is so darn expensive – even allowing for international postage, a kit would probably work out cheaper. Spiral binding would be fine, because I have a handy dandy zutter machine…

  45. Mary Franzenburg Avatar

wow Michelle, you are a genius!!!These are fabuluos!!! I would most definitely buy a download for this!!! ….hope al is well with you!

  46. Shay Avatar

I am beyond excited that you are contemplating making this *awesome* class available online as I really, really wanted to take it. I think either would be a good option although the downloads would probably end up easier for everyone in the long run.

  47. Piia Avatar

I’m voting for downloadable kit also as I live in Finland 🙂
And those dudes are so cool…specially the Ville Valo look-a-like 🙂 Is it coming out as a stamp??? – I love to get one as a rubber stamp if it does as I love HIM and specially Ville!!! I had an honour to meet him face to face a year ago when he was visiting our town pub and that was one of the best nights on the town ever!!! 😀 😀 😀
Greetings from the home of HIM,

either/ or for me, This would be a great opportunity especially for those of us that cannot get away. Personally for me i work early in the morning 4 am. It works for me, I am sure I am not alone or am I!

  51. Sue McG Avatar

I’d love to take this class online, I think a kit would be great since not all printers are created equal, but perhaps you could include an online library of the images for those who take the class so they can print extras? You could also offer the online library to those who don’t take the class, for a smaller fee.

  52. Mary Franzenburg Avatar

…not sure I’d download, ’cause I KNOW THIS STUFF……………but I’ve gotta say, HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! These are so amazing and wonderful! Only you can come up with something so original and different using the same techniques and ideas…you are amazing Michelle!!
