may flowers

I can't really count these lovely Diana roses as my first blooms since I recenty just bought her.  She makes me so happy.  This weekend she will finally have a permanent home in the garden after days of rain.

The dark clouds made me turn to my journal to work out a few thoughts and to write down some memories.

You may remember that this time last year I was able to sneak in a visit with Shannon after my workshop at Valley Ridge.  Here's the amazing thing:  I usually teach in October.  Kinda cool that it happened I was there in May, and made this visit to Minnesota happen.  Tucked in the envelope are some of the last emails I got from her.  One of them mentions what a "day-brightener" it was to receive all your blog comments filled with good wishes.  Thank you for coming through for me back then.  This is the last photo I have of us.  That day she told me I was a great hugger.  I never knew that.  Do you see that pink and black sleeve?  I was wearing it for her.

The sun was out today – finally!  I inspected the roses and was gifted with this.  There are many teeny weeny buds but only one revealing petals.   Even better than a rainbow.  Send your good vibes the sun sticks around tomorrow as we are having the annual party for Sam (bumped from April in hopes of better weather!).

    Hello Michelle,
do you know that everytime I see a rose bloom I think of you and Shannon ?…
I have an old rosebush in my garden from the previous owners of this house and it must be 20,30 years old ?
Every year in spring it blooms with a few big roses with the rΓ©al smell of roses.
I photographed them and used them in the “pink wink”, so they are now forever connected with you πŸ™‚
I DO remember the photo on the journal…
A year passes so fast… my daughter is 16 next week but then it’s also 16 years that my sister Christ’l died… Sometimes it just seems like yesterday…
But life goes on and I AM a happy person, cherishing all the good memories about my sister.
I know you do too with Shannon in your heart
    XOXO

    Mascara running. Again.
Okay, it’s good to loose it once in a while, right?….every time I see a rose in Bloom I think about you and Shannon. That will always be the case. Always.
Happy Mothers Day to one of my Heroes.

A great photo. My mother passed away on Mother’s Day, and I wish I had my last photo with her. You have a great habit of evidence journalling. I was just now sorting old magazines to recycle, and found the 2005 profile of you from a Somerset Studio someone gave me (I was late to the art scene). After I read it, I came here and saw this photo. Very nice colors. A year is gone in seconds and lasts forever.

I remember the last few months that you went through with your sistervia your posts here on yur blog. Seems so interesting to me that I could share that bitter-sweet time with you even though you were so far away and we had never physically met. I’m so thankful for being alive in this time when this wonderful computer technology was invented and that I’m able to be one of the first pioneers to enjoy using it to share my life with so many people I would have never ever met otherwise. Our souls have met, which is just as meaningful if not more than meeting each other physically. You are even a good cyberspace hugger Michelle! Thank you for the love you send all us!
Have a great hair day! Becci
    PS. mushy, I know… πŸ™‚

Your memories of your beautiful sister are so very poignant and really heart-touching, Michelle. You can tell that you both learned what is important in life – the love we have and how we chose to show it to one another.
I know the memories have a bittersweet feeling to them right now as the anniversaries hit but I know too that you are grateful for their sweetness. Sending much “sister” love to you.
    Big squishy hugs !
    Kim
