launch

MW lotsa sox6

I had to really pack them in and squish down so the covers would fit – 690 pairs!  *high fives* all around.  To my friends, to my neighbors, to my online buddies and acquaintances from near and far, and to those of I've never even exchanged a word with – written or spoken, THANK YOU.   I am finishing up the letter that will accompany each bin, then they are hitting the road.  The last few that came in….

The gathering of these socks has been such an experience.  There is a pink glow where there was once a dark hole.  I will continue to write about the winks and all the ripple effects….but now it's time to launch….to spread the love.

The kids started school today.  Amazing how they have grown (in August, Fallon turned 13 and Peter turned 18 – a senior!)  Amazing that the summer season is over (but not the hot weather!)  Amazing that we can be 3/4 of the way through the year and yet still feel like we can start anew.  A fresh start for the teachers, students, and parents.  New notebooks, fresh pencils, cool folders and cooler shoes.

I'm ready for something new.  I'm ready to look forward.  I'm ready to say farewell to these pink socks and let the love energy they are wrapped in be released.  Deep breath…..

you know… there’s an article in Somerset or something in this.. I can just feel it. Write it. Send it. After you’ve sent 690 socks that is… This is an inspirational story, turning around an event.

So glad that my package arrived in time! I can’t wait to hear about the reaction as you deliver the packages. What an amazing out come, and it shows how far reaching your work and your words really are.
May the remainder of the year bring you the happiness you truly deserve.

I’m so glad the sock drive was such a success! Keep us posted on how they are received, if you hear anything. I hope this helps you heal a bit, though I know it’s hard.
Wow, it is school time again, isn’t it? My mom still works at my high school, so that’s how I keep track of when the school year starts now. Tell Peter, Sam, and Fallon to have fun! I’ll bet Fallon has the best-decorated locker in the whole school…

Michelle-thanks for sharing the pink winks with all. Celia got a big smile when she saw that you posted her stationary on your site. I found Shannon’s obituary notice hidden in the book she brought with her on vacation which made me very sad but she has also shown a sudden and intense interest in gymnastics so maybe that is her pink wink directly from Shannon.
Such fun pics of the kids! I feel like I actually know them now and Annmarie tells everyone that her big cousin Petercalls her Gabriella….

WOW! look what I’ve been missing! I was so delighted to see all you’ve done in honor of your sis and in honor of her loving care-givers! I’m sorry I missed the pink sock mail in…and the pay it forward crusade! I love pay-it-forward! What would this world be like if there were more giving with no expectations (is that spelled right?) of getting something in return!
Have a great hair day! Becci

Hey Michelle! SO happy to see the effort made on your behalf, to thank the staff who cared for your sister and your family. Trust me, the staff, their co-workers from other units, the administrators, everyone who hears the story of all the pink socks will be touched, and deeply, to think so many people appreciated their efforts. So often nurses are thanked for work that is “what we are hired to do”, but it is not often (if ever), a gesture of such magnitude occurs, and I am confident it will make an enormous impression, and will not be soon forgotten. All my love, Kathy.
