it’s a date

Mw_mileymovie

Last Friday I thought I would be clever and pick up tickets early for the Hannah Montana movie.  Like, I thought we would be going later that night.  Wrong.  All that was left was 9:40 tonight, or 5:20 AM, 7:20 AM and 1:00 AM on SCHOOL DAYS.  Hello?  Sam hates to miss school, even for Miley.  So tonight, while the whole neighborhood is glued to the tv for the outcome of the Superbowl starring our own Giants, I’ll be watching a Miley Cyrus concert in 3-D.

Mw_reminder_2 Don’t forget the Jane Auten series on Masterpiece Theater tonight.  They are running a special, "Miss Austen Regrets".

Oh, and about the craft paper journals:  I have no clue where I got them.  I have several, all with varying weights of paper.  One source I can think of is Paperchase brand, found at Borders.  The paper is kinda thin for painting on.  Even harder to find, and cooler than craft paper, is a black page journal.  If I figure out where I got them I’ll post, but if you happen to know feel free to share in the comments.

I remember the days when my plans would change to do something that was so terribly important to my son, and bless his little A.D.D. heart they were such terribly important things!! I miss that! Enjoy it while you can Michelle….
I did get a little payback last October….he ended up going to the HIM concert with me over at the Myth!!!!
On the suject of the craft journals… I bought the Paperchase brand at Borders – not sure if they are the same but they sure remind me of them! I am still on the lookout for some black ones…..should check Borders again!
    Until later,

    Hello,
you can easily make them yourself !
My mom, who’s going to the academie of Art, reuses all her papers she drew or painted on and which she’s not happy with.
She tears or cut them in the size she wants her journalbook and then goes to the papershop ( where they make copies etc.) and they bind her papers for her with plastic or metal rings ( she loves the metal ones).
It only cost 5 € in Belgium, so I guess it doesn’t cost you a lot more in America !
So you can do the same with black paper !
Choose the black paper you want ( light are a heavy one if you want to paint on it), with or without structure, cut are let them cut in the size you want and ask them to bind them for you.
There are some limits in size and height, but I saw my mother’s books and they can make them quite chunky…
This way, you’re almost not limited anymore..
    greetings XOXO

You can get great black journals at Michael’s in the art section (probably at Joann’s and Hobby Lobby too). I bought two wire-bound (so I can tear them apart!) journals with nice heavy paper – one with white paper, the other with black. I think they are made by Canson? Wait till they go on sale (or use one of those 40% off coupons that come in the mail every couple weeks) and stock up! I’ve been painting up a bunch of backgrounds in the white one since the first of the year as part of my “Do Art Every Day” resolution. So far so good! The heavier paper holds up really nicely to all the layers I’ve been adding. Highly recommended.

    Hi Michelle,
I loved this post! You are a great writer. I am a big fan of Hannah Montana myself. I was about to go to the concert, but it was too expensive. Hope you have a good time. (We’re not into the super bowl at our house either.)

You are such a cool Mom, don’t think she won’t remember this! I took my girls on Friday, and I honestly enjoyed it! The 3D effects were awesome, and the music was really good. And…those Jonas Brothers are really little cuties! Hope you girls have a great time!

    Hey….what a great Momma….I can’t wait to hear Sam’s “review”.
I get my craft paper journals at B&N. It would be great if the paper was a bit weightier.
Staying tuned for the word on Hannah.

I found 3 different sizes of those black journal / albums ? at Border’s a few months ago…..at 75% off!! They have the really heavy paper, and the covers are very sturdy too. A great find! The brown heavy craft paper ones are Paperchase brand, from Border’s also. Found those a while ago too. They all have an elastic band to keep them closed. Love them!! You have to take them out of the plastic bags they come in and check out the weight of the paper, since the weights vary among the different books they have.

For the people who like to support independent businesses, you can find black-paged and brown-paged journals for use with all sorts of media at Turtle Arts. http://www.turtlearts.com I’m sure they’d appreciate the business!
Michelle—you have now surpassed supermom status!!

I found black journals at Big Lots ONCE (key word for Big Lots finds) They were nine inch square photo journals. I ended up gessoing some of the pages white! (go figure).
What a precious time for you and Sam. He must have been floating (and therefore you too). Those are moments that burrow into your heart forever – but it’s good that you journal it too. Things may stay in your heart but they fall out of the holes in your head (at least mine do)
