I’m looking over a 4 leaf clover….

Mwfourleafclovers

I’m pretty sure I found my first one when I was about 8.  Haven’t saved every one, but a few years ago I started an album and there have to be hundreds of them in it.  I also keep many loose, like these in the wax paper, to use in my artwork.  There are even some 5 and 6 leaf clovers here.  With so many, I began challenging myself to find the smallest ones and have scored several itty bitty ones.

To preserve them – I put the collected clovers in a small cup of water for at least a day.  This softens them up enough so they can be pressed between a folded piece of wax paper.  Then I store them in a book so they dry flat.  The ones that end up looking too yellow or brown were left in the water too long.  To store them in an album, I used to attach them with gel medium.  Now I lay them on the page, and place a clear circle sticker over top.

How do I find them?  Couldn’t tell ya – LUCK I guess.  But I’ll give you this clue…..where you find one, you’ll almost always find two, so don’t stop looking.

Michelle, you must be one of these specially gifted people, just like my mother. We would walk the beach with our eyes on the seaweed, and even though she walked behind me, she found all the amber! I never found a piece of amber and I never found a fourleaf clover. I guess I have to stick to bigger findings ;))

Luck and a bit of that Irish touch! I have only found 3 in my lifetime, they must all grow on your side of the fence…

Miss Kelly Girl, you just have the “Luck of the Irish” in your blood! How cool that you have so many to work with! I always love what you do with them, your True Colors layout is my fave! I love that you created a “focal point” using them on your page. BeautifuL!

After you first told me about your knack for finding 4 leaf clovers, I’ve been looking & never find any. So I fixed that problem-bought myself a shamrock plant a few weeks ago that has almost all 4 leaf clovers on it-lol! And I smile & think of you every single time I look at it:)

Love yer site. I picked about 20 from the same “patch” in the last two evenings. I’ll let it rest a while. Springtime when the clover is growing fast is the best time and you’re right, if you find one there’s more than likely another one on the same plant.

Its so strange, it seems you either never find four leaved clovers or you find them everywhere! I never find them but know someone who had a collection almost as big as yours!

Oh, I used to find them, I used to roam around in the fields when I was somewhere around 8 in Kansas City, and there were more than people expected, but few enough that when I found one I was so excited! I saved them, but didn’t know to press them, so they’re gone. Like lots of rare things.

Do you know how to make jewelry out of them ? i’ve seen some pendants with the clover enclosed in something clear – glass or plastic I guess. I’d like to make one for each of my sons and for gifts. Do you know how to do it?
