i’m a believer

I’ve been involved in a Self-Portrait collaborative journal exchange – and this is one of the pages I made.  I was typing out strips of words that define me….I asked Fallon to come look at the document and tell me if she could think of another word.

She said this:  Believer.  It took my breath away.  Believer.  She didn’t say shopper, or cook (which I’m not but kids don’t really know that), or car-pooler, or dweeb, or …..  She said Believer.  I know she didn’t mean it in the religious way, although I am that kind of believer.  She meant it in that I believe in people, I believe in friendships, I believe in love, and I believe anyone can make what they want of themselves.  Thanks Fallon, I will live up to your definition of me.

The original above was for another artist (can’t tell who yet).  Below are variations done in PS to test additional palettes as I continue on this theme in my own journal.

Well, I’ve been at the street team looking at great images, and then I find you’ve got new stuff of your own to show us, and how amazing. Impactful! That song’s running through my head now, but those images, and the obverse, really amazing. Something to reach for. You are also an inspirer!

To a true believer — great pages and such wonderful, vivid colors.

fallon couldn´t have made you a bigger compliment!! it is not given to everybody to be a believer, but this positive attitude surely is part of you!!!
i adore these head-and-stripes compositions and couldn´t choose a favorite colorcombo – they are all just great!

Beautiful! Fallon is such an insightful girl.
I love the original colorway best, but the blue and gray one makes me think of Eleanor Rigby for some reason. BTW I love that you used your phrenology stamp for a piece about who you are. It’s almost like you’re labeling the diagram! “Well this bump is for creativity, and this one shows faith…”
And yes, that song popped instantly into my head, though not that version. Monkees fan til death, me. 😉

Michelle – another great post! And some more fantastic artwork!! I would love to be one of the one participants in such a project.
What a great daughter….and what a wonderful mother!!!
I think, if it is not too late, you should add the word Inspirer to your list.
    Until later,
    Judy

um, yes, i will take one of the greenish/turquoise versionns, lol. The pages are wonderful and since green is my favorite color, of course I am loving that version. And such a great word Fallon came up with for you. You did have my laughing at ‘dweeb’ though, lol. Have a great day. I gotta go listen to some music to get that song out of my head now :o)

I BELIEVE we were meant to be friends. We grew up so close together, and then met from so far away!

I love that song lol – used to watch the Monkees all the time when I was little! The pages are fabulous – and HEY! Just rented Tracy Bautista’s dvd on her rag book and loved her fast papertowel tech (any fast tech would be cool) – there is hope for art in a journal of mine after all lol. They looked similar to yours , and I am super jazzed I got it.
I love that girls hair – can’t pull that off on mine but if I could oboyoboy…I recognized her by her hair long before I had any clue what sort of art she did , back when she was writing for Somerset. Back when I read it with no clue I could do that stuff too lol.

Dearest Michelle, You are a believer and I don’t think I have ever seen another artist online, who is as accomplished as you, be so willing to give of herself to others. You are priceless indeed.
And as for the song… LOL… yes it was going on though my head… but not the Smash Pumpkins version… I was thinking more “old school” Monkee’s LOL

Part of what keeps you zooming forward is your endless capacity to BELIEVE in the goodness of everything and everyone.I Believe that I’m lucky to call you my friend. Your readers are lucky to share in your generosity. Showing the various colorways of the same image is so cool. Reminds us of the possibilities of PhotoShop and a great imagination.
My only beef is that now the song is stuck in my head. Oy. Reminds me that I actually had a pair of Monkey Boots…wonder if you can get them on Ebay? …very “Carnaby Street”.
    Thanks for the creative booster.

I just recently found this your piece of the worldwide web. It’s quite inspirational…and since I recently got photoshop I’m ready to learn how to use it.

VERY cool Michelle!!! You’re never cooler than when your own teen says something cool to you!!! And yes, that song (both versions!) is going thru my head…tho to tell the truth, it often does, lol!

These are awesome, Michelle. I really like the bright colours – they remind me of your enthusiastic spirit. And did your jaw drop open when Fallon described you that way? It’s evident that you have a special relationship with your kids. But of course, you are a very cool mom!
