how to press your luck

This is my favorite time of year for finding four leaf clovers. The patches are just emerging from the sleepy earth and the friendly green weeds are perfect and unblemished (and not yet mowed). I've already scored about two dozen this month. My mission, being so early in the gathering season, is to find a tiny one. Here's what I know: if you find one four leaf clover, you are likely to find another in the same patch. Most people walk away with their luck before taking a second look. Here's my How-To for Pressing Your Luck, literally.

I'm thinking I might be pressing my luck, of another kind, by purchasing a lottery ticket. Hey, why not? It's been fun to watch the bounty raised for the MegaMillion drawing tonight. If I win, Shamrock Shakes are on me. Our son Peter came home from his convenient store job last night very tired from standing at the lottery till all evening. The lines were long at the ATM as neighbors collected cash then relined up at the register to wish on a number. Good luck!

And while I'm talking about How-To, let me direct you to a new button in the right sidebar. TUTORIALS will take you to a page I'm working on. The cool thing about typepad blogs is you can set up static pages where you can easily re-post visuals and information from previous posts. I'm culling my blog for useful information that can be organized and easily referenced on the tutorial page. It's a work-in-progress. So far I have completed reposting archived data on Carving Stamps to support an upcoming article I will have in Somerset Studio (May/June 2012). The article will discuss WHY to carve…..didn't want to waste the real estate on HOW, since that information can be found in many places, and now HERE.

So tell me….

I am chiming in…
No, I have not found any four leave clovers this year. Not sure I have even seen the three leaf ones.
Yes, I must admit, I have bought into the MegaMillion…too high not to and I WANT TO RETIRE!
Tutorials….need to give that one some thought. You have shared so much I am not sure what is left!

I know this is probably beyond basic – but how about a tutorial on preparing rubber sheets of stamp images – sorta from sheet to ready to stamp? I’ve seen this other places, but it always seems like they are missing a step or two – like there’s some inborn knowledge we’re supposed to already have. I hate to admit I’m lacking in this – but I can’t be the only one – I hope! LOL!

I’ve never found a 4 leaf clover 🙁 Someday, though, maybe I will!
Alex bought us a MegaMillions ticket, although my friends at work said I should have bought one myself because the card I needed was right at the top of a big box full of index cards yesterday! I guess that’s kind of like finding a 4 leaf clover 🙂
Mmm tutorials… Brush techniques is something I could always use pointers on.

*What a great idea!…a TUTORIAL button. I can’t wait to see the creative spin that you’ll put on your upcoming article. I LOVE carving, but don’t seem to do it enough.
*I might buy a ticket today if the line isn’t too brutal. I buy one about every couple of months because part of the money goes to our Colorado Park System..okay, that’s not the ONLY reason *wink*
*I’d love to see a tutorial on any computer trick that could make my Blog or website cooler.
Pretty much anything YOU have in your toolkit HAS to be cool.

I haven’t found a four leaf clover since I was little, probably because I no longer look for them! I’ll get down close to the front grass this weekend before I mow it and see if I can find any! We are laying new turf out the back – so hopefully none it that grass!
I don’t ‘do’ the lottery…. so no chance of winnning. I’m not sure I’d really like to win millions….. would you still appreciate all the little things? I’d like to think I’d give most of it away….
Any of your tutorials would be wonderful 🙂 I have some catching up to do anyway.

Love the idea of a tutorial button–it lets me be lazy when I’m hunting for information on your blog . Any tutorial you choose to do will be great.
I don’t think I’ve ever found a 4-leaf clover. And getting down close enough to the ground to find one is not all that easy.
And I don’t do lotteries either. It would be fun to have the money but then I think of all the unwanted attention and let it go by. But best of luck to you.

Hi Michelle, i have not seen any clovers yet, it is still too cold up here. Maybe the crocus are out…
I’m in Canada, so question 2 does not apply.
But, for tutorials, there is one thing i would love to see (on video is my preference, am i pushing it?), and you might have shared before, is how you make those AMAZING sprayed pages and papers with your stencils. I am totally obsessed with them. I do not understand how you get all those layers still keeping the images so crisp.

I took my 6 1/2 year old grandson home to Ga last weekend and we spent quite a while hunting for 4 leaf clovers, what a surprise to read about you doing the same thing!!! We found at least a dozen, and 1 5 leaf clover. We may have found more but the dogs kept rolling in the clover! We pressed them in an old phone book. And yes we bought lottery tickets…but the clovers didn’t bring us any luck with them!

Well, I’m chiming in now that you’ve forgotten what you asked. HA!
I have found many four-leaf clovers in my lifetime, but very few recently because I have not looked. It was always exciting for me to find one, especially to show people who doubted they exist. I’m kind of a nanner nanner person in that way. Smiling knowingly while keeping it to myself is not always my style, but sometimes I control myself.
We did buy a few lottery tickets in pools.
As for tutorials, I have so many boxes/shadowboxes that I’m planning to do something with, and I know you are Queen of the 3D, and also, I’m hoping for lots of Halloween/Samhain decorations/gifties to be made by the time I actually need them, but I may just whip up something for Spring now even though I missed the Easter prep time. But blah blah, if you ever wanted to do a tutorial on a simple 3D (not giving away any workshop secrets, of course!) that would be neato.
I love your pressing skills.
