Day 8:  More fine samples that show how vast the markings are on covers around the world.  These are from Nick Sherman.  In case you missed his introduction on Day 1, he has an album with over 800 photos and generously permitted me to share them.  Thanks again Nick, your collection is prolific.  See more HERE, you will be dizzy after the visit.

I mentioned earlier that I'm new to Instagram.  And I've discovered if you are skilled at adding hashtags, you will find other like-minded people.  Just to get you started:  #manhole  #manholecover  Some really cool people out there sharing their amazing finds.  I'm not sure if it's cool to post links to other folks accounts so just try the hashtags.  Before long you will find more than you ever expected.

    These are so interesting. Loving this month of photos that you started. I do agree that hashtags are both helpful and dangerous. Did that once and learned that everything has another meaning. *sigh*

    Aren’t the Designs amazing! Great Photos Nick!
    Manhole Cover Spotting is so addictive that I have hundreds of photos and scores of rubbings.
    Sometimes Friends and Colleagues take Photos and create Rubbings that I use a reference for my art.
    My Book Club Buddy, Susan from The Novel Group Book Club calls herself “The Grate Works Apprentice!”
    The reward for doing a rubbing is a gift of a Little Sewer Purse commissioned from my Quilter Friend Gaby.
    Ah, It is a “Grate Life!’

    Love the manhole covers you found. I started looking for them myself, but so far they are not as beautiful as the ones shown here.I put some on my blog. So have a look if you want. You know why they are round? The answer is: there won’t be the risk that the cover will fall in the hole when someone is down there. My blog http://goudenregen.blogspot.nl/

    Barb, thanks for coming by. Yes, I can see that hashtags can be tricky, but they have also led me to a lot of interesting people. Can’t beat that.

    Bobbi, I love that you have apprentices gathering photos for you. I’ve started to collect some of my own roving reporters who send me wonderful views that I’d never have a chance to see. Love this generous community of friends – those we know, and those that reach out because they know we love something. It IS a ‘grate life’ 🙂
