Beyond the Page

Continuing talk about spray paint – you can move off the page and onto fabric.  Your plain, everyday variety spray can be put to work on your jeans!  And surprisingly, it doesn’t result in crusty surfaces.  Well, if you are super heavy handed with the paint it might get crunchy – but a light touch is all it takes to apply color.  How cool are these?  And those funky shoes?  They aren’t sprayed, they are from Target.  But they could have been!  Nothing is safe from getting a coat of spray around here.

Here I cut a mask of the logo of our favorite band.  This time, because the fabric of the t-shirt is much softer, I used the Tulip brand fabric spray paint.  And Fallon?  Had to show you how beautiful she is…..with colored hair spray from Hot Topic.  I told ya, nothing is safe.

And lest you think everything I do has black….here’s a little color.  Looks like Spring doesn’t it?  You can see some custom cut masks, some purchased stencils, the floral is by Heidi Swapp.  Her masks are terrific but they are super sticky and will rip your paper so blot them on your jeans to pick up a little lint before setting on your page.

OMIGOSH, I am so ready to become an aerosol girl! LOL I dragged Drew shopping today for cans of spray paint. I bought six different colors….they are so cool! I can’t wait to start playing. Now, if only the weather would cooperate….it’s 42 degrees below zero! Hmmm, wonder if the paint would freeze in mid-air! I’ll let you know! LOL I could color the snow…..hmmmm, getting lots of ideas here! I’m just so excited! I’ve worn out the Somerset already with all my drooling over “Aerosol Girls”….too cool for words! Your aerosol art ROCKS!

Went shopping today, bought: more spray paint, stencils and a stencil cutter. I was going to spend the $ on the blanks but when I told a friend what I was doing she ran to her scrapbook cabinet and came back with about 10ea 12×12 sheets of plastic. They are so cool…..here is where you find them! I store my 12×12 sheets of background papers in plastic scrapbook holders (the vertical kind), inside are 12×12 sheets of plastic to separate the colors/designs that are not always used (I have about 30 of them filed away. These can be cut to create stencils, they are a little thicker than standard stencil plastic but since we are using these to spray onto, the thickness isn’t a big issue! I also bought a few of the cheapy stencils….don’t like all the images but can cut them apart! Ooooh, I’m so excited to start. Now, if it would just warm up so I can play outside! I’m ready, I’ll have a bunch of stencils ready for break-up!
