art love

As soon as the calendar page turns to February I get all excited about red, of course, but I also reflect on the people and things I love.  Valentine's Day isn't until mid-month but I feel my heart open….having survived the holidays and the lull that January can bring, this month gets me motivated about the things ahead in the coming year, and the promise of Spring.  I look around this messy studio and want to break out with new work and maybe cross some things off my to-do list of making stuff I've been wanting to make.  I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such cool supplies, I want to be using them all the time.  With the new year I tend to do some clean-up on my computer and review the completed projects from the past year.  I loved seeing the archives of all the work I've done.  It is clear that I love art and I love being an artist.  I decided to take this month and make a daily declaration about it. I will show both old and new work….to celebrate where I've been and where I'm going.

I get a similar feeling in February. When my dad was at the Naval Academy, they used to call that period right after Christmas break the “dark ages,” and that’s the best description of January I’ve ever heard! But I’ve been getting happy that the sun is still out a little bit when I leave work (when I leave on time), and looking forward to Valentine’s Day and past that to Spring. Winter is my least favorite season!
On my way now to register for Art Is… You! Sad to miss Create but I think it’ll be worth it to go to Art Is… You instead.

I love Valentine’s Day. As a child I always thought of winter as the time that it was always cloudy! I don’t know why, but I did. Valentine’s Day was always the pretty bright spot in the cloudiness. My mom would make a heart shaped cake and always give me a little gift. I still love Valentine’s Day and looking forward to March and the crocuses!
Just registered for Art Is…You. I’m really looking forward to your classes there!

Hi. How are you? I’m fine.
I just realized that you have been posting every day. I rolled back all the way. What the heck? (I would say hell, but you are a much more sophisticated person than I am and I don’t want to be crass) Here’s the deal: I promise not to comment on every single wonderful post if you promise to keep doing this.
Oh, I hope I don’t love them all like this one. It will be very difficult!
