a thing for dirt

If you've been following along then you know I have a thing for dirt.  Collecting dirt from special places.   People send me dirt too.  Susanne sent dirt from Finland while attending a festival where HIM was playing.  I know, crazy and cleverly good!  This thing I do actually started with saving sand from beaches we visited.  Then it became collecting grave dirt for a rock-star-crush gift.

I don't expect anyone to get it.  But I'm sure you can appreciate that I squee'd when I found these at Marshalls today.  The items are also available online HERE.  I little piece of Ireland!  You can even get a pound of dirt and a package of shamrock seeds.  HCIT?  Great gift for St. Patrick's Day.  Even if you aren't into dirt.

I get it Michelle!!! I have always saved sand from beaches and soil samples from where ever I visit. I don’t know where I get it because my family was anything but sentimental but I remember my mama squawking about all those fruit cake tins I had full of Christmas needles. To my way of thinking, I could open the can and smell Christmas all year long. To her, I was just a crazy little thing.
I get ‘cha Michelle and I am going right now to get me some Irish soil. Thanks for telling us. Hey, it is real estate, right? :o)
    Hope you are feeling better,
Bonnie in Red Wing (However YOU got me started on the grave dirt thang…..!)

I do the same thing. Sand in little decorative jars…..black Minnesota soil, Red Mississippi soil……I don’t know why I do it, but I have always done it. To me, the ultimate souvenir of places I have visited…..or hope to visit, like some Paris graveyard dirt. Luther like completely blames you but it started before I knew you, really it did. :o)
    You start some stuff girlfriend!!!!!
