This wasn't our biggest snowfall this year but it was definitely the heaviest.  I've had requests to see it…especially from our Australian friends who are experiencing the polar opposite.  I do love the change of seasons.  Just wish it would change now 😉

The photos below were taken Wednesday night as it was coming down.  Under that is from yesterday morning after we cleared it.  More is on the way….I'm off to stock up on my french toast supplies.

I am loving the new judge line-up on Americal Idol.  I already have two favorite performers…can't wait for Hollywood!  Are you watching?

I grew up in Minnesota where snow days like this were not uncommon.  We made the most of it – sledding, skating and skiing.  We also had snowmobiles.  I remember that we would have a snowfence – temporarily installed along the driveway to prevent snow from drifting across.  We would wrap our feet in Wonder Bread bags before inserting in our boots, then spend hours outside.  Our wrists would be chapped from where the wet snow met our tender skin.  We lived in a court, and all the snow from the road would be piled in the middle of the circle in what felt like a huge snow mountain.  Who would be king of the hill?  After Minnesota I lived in Boston, then Chicago, Traverse City (MI), and now here (NJ).  Snow has been part of all my winters.  In 46 years I never heard this phrase:  It's a French Toast Day.  Graham mentioned it last snow storm (a few days ago).  Do you know this one?

Most people freak at the prospect of being snowed in when a storm is on the way so they rush to the stores to gather up supplies.  The first to get emptied off the shelves – milk, bread, and eggs.  French Toast!  *grin*

No school AGAIN today.   Soon we will dig out…it's getting harder and harder to clear the snow as we have to lift it higher and higher.  But oh boy!  It is sure pretty!

I will check on my syrup reserves….might have to whip up some FT before I put on my boots.

It's been too cold to spend alot of time in my studio so my Ruby Tuesday pages were made from some table scraps I quickly grabbed during a dash in-and-out this morning.  I've been logging quite a few hours planning a workshop that will be announced soon on the Valley Ridge Art Studio site.  The ideas have rapidly channeled in and I can barely keep up with myself taking notes and making sketches.  This is the funnest part of the planning phase – visualizing yourself and your students in the flurry and fun of creativity, and all that is possible at this unique venue.  I can't wait for this one!

Last week my friend Anna sent more samples of cool art she made with stamps from Green Pepper Press.  Here is a sneak peek, you can see the full images in the guest gallery HERE.  Thanks girl, you rock!

Third snowfall in less than three weeks.  First 22", then 3", and now I'm guessing 10".  Very beautiful.  Kids got the day off – yay!  Love my neighbors.  Rob and Lisa blow the snow and lay the salt.  MaryEllen and Mark permit Peter to park in their drive.  We all gather to sweep off the cars, clear the sidewalks and driveways, and enjoy the company of being-in-it-together.

Warming up after with toast and cocoa….my toes are stinging….wondering what to do with this *free* day.  There is a long list of things I should do, but a snow day always trumps the list doesn't it?  I'm thinking….I may indulge in making my own slider art.  What's that you say?  Check out this….we discovered Jay and Marilyn at Chelsea Market during the Jingle thing.  He makes the coolest sliding art.  AND he sells kits too.  Visit their site at www.morphicism.com.

Seriously, can you stand how clever this is?  Gotta get it hung up this week.  I went out of my mind swooning when I realized what he was onto….I love movable art.  I did a turning piece a few years ago….remember this one?  So I nearly fainted when I learned Jay had kits too – what a generous offering.  I'm off to start rolling out my ideas.  Again, visit www.morphicism.com

    Stay safe and warm.

  • I'm cheating.  I made these pages yesterday for the new crusade.  Crusade No. 47 ~ It's A Wrap.  They are also No. 48 & 49 in the Ruby Tuesday gallery.  How clever is that? *wink*

I started a new series on the street team:  evidence journaling.  This month it's about moving the wrapping debris onto your pages.  Curious?  Come play with us!
