  • There is something about the basic circle and square that always gets my attention.  I have this silly habit of searching cardboard packaging for the color registration markings.  It's such an interesting quest – I know just where to look.  You've probably seen hundreds of these on the flaps and edges of paper products, and along the selvedge of fabric.  I can't resist tearing them off.  (Sometimes they are hidden under a glue-line.  Take a peek at your cereal boxes.)  Today I started putting them in a journal.  It makes me happy to look at them.  Crazy, right?

I know it's a stretch to call this a Ruby Tuesday page since it isn't in my usual RT journal.  I have missed my weekly routine.  To be honest I was feeling lost as I had sent several of the books off for an article…and it was hard to get in the groove with a different type of page, plus I've been missing having my journals here with me.  Whatta whiner.  They should be coming back soon as Art Journaling Summer 2011 hits the racks July 1st.

I love when you come across an oversized (or teeny tiny) version of a well-loved item.  Don't you?  Check out these candy buttons…the ones on the right.  They are almost the size of a penny.  Like monstrous.  Swoon!  (Found at Paper Source in Princeton).

Hope you are staying cool.  And using sunscreen.

  • When summer settles in I find myself shifting not only the clothes in my closet, but my approach to art-making.  I stockpile new paint colors and a handful of new supplies….but I also recognize the transition to a different way of thinking.  Do you do that too?  We are going to uncover the answers in Crusade No. 52.  Come join in the conversation.

The patterned bag is from Marshalls.  Love their reusable totes.  This one caught my attention as it has many of the organic images I am connecting with lately.  The yellow paper and paper spools are recent finds from Paper Source in Princeton.  My summer palette 2011 isn't much different than 2010.  I love trying on a new wardrobe of supplies….it totally spills over into other seasons….and I have summer to thank for that.

Nine days of school to go.  Happy Summer!

Does anyone know if the Sizzix folders are bendy enough to go through the pasta machine?  You have to be able to flex the folder.  I haven'tseen one in-real-life.  Chime in if you know.  Kiitos.

  • I've listed more House Book Kits on Etsy.  Later this week I will begin adding useful tips and photos of my completed books to the Home Improvement page (link at right sidebar).

Can you believe we are at the end of Oprah's final season?  I am so bummed to see it end.  Three days left.  She's been an afternoon companion for many many years.  I will look forward to see what happens on her network, but for now, farewell girlfriend.  Thanks for all you have done to teach us, entertain us, make us laugh and cry, and by example, show us how to live an authentic, giving, enthusiastic life.
