Finished up a few pages – loving my new carved thorns.  Making tools and using them.  Very fulfilling. Yes, I keep re-visiting this quote.  It's a fave.  Yes, I keep re-using the same colors.  They are faves.  After mentioning that I wear my palette I realize I live in my palette too.  Yep – even have red walls, sage and mustard too.  No, I don't have black walls….just black furniture 🙂

Made an evidence page of my find – even took a rubbing of the sole.  Thanks for all your comments about my boots!  I've been wearing them every day.  I haven't worn suede boots in years – loved those slouchy pixies from my DD* days and wish I still had them as Fallon is dressing in 80s fashion this week at school.  Tomorrow is the Frankie Says Relax shirt.  (It's a repro from Target….my signed-by-the-band original T is retired from wear.)  *duranduran

Evidence of a Lucky Girl:  This perfect cup arrived from Carin – she gets me ;)  And Theresa gave me the heads up on the scrabble thing – Xs & Os glued into place, which I scooped up from ETSY:  RememberMeEmily.  And how about that cute card from Sam?  Priceless.

One week to go on the current Crusade.  After Shaping Up, we are now practicing Portion Control.   What I am talking about?  Come see!  Lots of crusaders have already shared their interpretations – so fun to learn from one another as we all try something at the same time.  Congrats to Cath Sheard for being the most recent Top Hat Pick.

  • So yesterday I was in this shoe store that is going out of business and I spy these snazzy green boots that were priced at $32.  Walked right by.  Last night I couldn't stop thinking about them.  They were such an awesome color.  I thought, hmmm, they are suede….why would I buy suede boots….they would only get wrecked in the snow which is the only time I would wear them.  EXCEPT maybe every day in the studio because it gets a little brisk in here in the winter.  This morning – went staight to the store, tried them on, and they were so warm and cozy!  I uttered out loud that I wish they came in red, but that the green was pretty cool too.  She rung me up.  $12.80.  Hello?  Ran back for a second pair.  I'm like that….buy two of everything.  Just in case.

So I am so psyched with my score, and it just begins to snow, so I put on my boots.  Here I am walking around with a long black coat, black scarf, red gloves, and green boots.  I am practically skipping with glee even though I must look like, well….didn't matter.  Then it occurs to me – I'm wearing my palette!

There was a sale on sweaters….guess what color I got?  Good thing I was wearing my boots, got a perfect match!

Wishing you Xs & Os and roses and chocolate and messages from loved ones today.   More important than getting, is giving.  Spread the love.

This gift from Lisa was opened this morning.  Totally rocks.

Still building my collection of carvings.  I've been asked about the materials to use – I get my stuff from Nasco.  Some previous posts about carving can be found HERE and HERE.

  • Whew!  Got a few things moved from to-do to ta-da.  I've been wanting to carve an elaborate X and O so I started with a sketch.  Since I like to make coordinating images I just kept drawing.  Then I lifted each portion of the composition by tracing over it – I have a trick to insure the best symmetry – I draw an x/y axis on the trace, then copy only one quadrant of the image.  Next, I fold on an axis and trace the tracing.  It doesn't matter that you are drawing on the back since you can see through it.  Repeat across other axis and you should have a pretty symmetrical design.

Here are the test prints…tomorrow I'll get out the paint!

    MWnewtoolsprocess3

Since I had these photos of my sketch I decided to open in photoshop and erase bits out of it to make custom brushes and mess around with how these will look with color.  Squeee!

    MWnewtoolsprocess2

Last weekend I finally finished and mailed the Pink Wink thank yous.  It feels so good to move that task over to the ta-da list.  And as I said before, it was great therapy to revisit the project and bask a while longer in the pink glow.

And one more ta-da from this week - our NJ/NY HIM Street Team gathering for HD!

I know, you probably already had it on your calendar, but just in case you forgot, Heartagram Day is the first Saturday in February.  Last year we were treated to a full-theater-screen preview of the dvd.  *swooooned*.  This year we will meet up with our Street Team friends, following a LIVE interview broadcast.  *squeeeeeeeee*  What are your HD plans?
