remembering….

Three years ago, July 10th, my sweet sister left for heaven.  This week I have been thumbing through my journal of notes where I record special memories of her.  Thoughts channel in and I try to capture them with words until I can make visual pages in my Sister Journal.  The littlest thing can trigger a memory.  Yesterday, it was the phone ringing.  I try to fend off the blues by pulling up the things that fill me with joy.  Like this:

Here's Bo….because he's part of my Shannon-Memory.

I cannot believe it has been 3 years. I started regularly following your blog around the time Shannon was discharged home from the hospital that last, short time. if you asked me how long i was following I would have said a year or two- definitely not three years. My father died 4 years ago April and I have to say that the pain changed sometime in the last year. It still is horrible and I still can hardly stand to listen to music from the late 70’s and early 80’s because it reminds me too much of being a little girl and my dad. But my heart doesn’t seem to seize up as much when I think of him and I am not constantly thinking about that horrible day when he died. I can remember better times, healthier happier times without ending in that day at the hospital.
I’m sending Hugs and Love to you- losing a sister just isn’t supposed to happen and has to be tremendously difficult. I love that you have kept her memory alive.

    Hey Michelle-
Just got home from a visit with my mom up north, so wasn’t able to comment earlier but know that you are thought of by so many of us. My heart goes out to you with hopes you can keep those blues away!
    As always, xoxoxo
    Until later,
    Judy

Can’t believe it’s been so long already. Thank you for sharing your memories and your tributes with us. This one in particular speaks to me because music is something that becomes very attached to people for me. Much love and extra hugs.

Michelle, I look in every once in a while to see what you are up to, I didn’t know that you had a sister with cystic fibrosis. I really enjoyed your post and the music. Hearts can be touched by the smallest thing – we are so connected. What a beautiful song you chose. Carol
