prickley shapes

While in MN….walking the path to the North Point I was searching for new summer shapes.  Found alot of cool thistles.  Had to wrap in numerous leaves to break loose as the prickles were dangerous.  My favorite part of the experience?  My niece was with me and while curious about what I was doing, didn't give me the *you're a crazy artist* look I'm used to getting.

Stencils and masks made from tyvek or acetate.  Will carve stamps next.  Are you claiming some new shapes of your own?

These thistle stencils/masks are spot on, Michelle! As a farm girl, I remember not liking these much, but now I can appreciate their beauty.

These remind me of the thistle William Wallace’s future wife hands him at the beginning of Braveheart, before Mel went off the deep end. I was just in our home state for a reunion, it was splended…I hadn’t been home for 15 plus years til this year!!! Love the artwork!!! 😉

Lovely! Very Scottish 😉 I’ve been big into toadstools lately. Will have to show off my new stamps!

These were so great about a month ago. Love that you’ve transformed one to a lovely stencil.
Did you see Gold Finches feeding at the ones gone to seed? So lovely.
I’d go scavenging any day with you. We’d get the double the looks. 😉
Thanks for sharing your lovely work.

    Hello Michelle,
    these are so cool !
I had them in my garden as a “weed” but didn’t remove it until it flowered because I like how it looks.
Before it spread it’s seed I had to remove it : I was wearing rubbergloves and even then the prickles went through !
As someone says : Scottish ! they are indeed a scottish symbol. I just wonder how the men avoided to get hurt by them wearing their kilt….
    greetings from Belgium
